If you’re looking to tame WordPress without pulling your hair out, Alex Borto is the man for the job.
Founder of WPMarmite, since 2011 he’s been concocting tasty content to help you create, customize and boost your WordPress sites, whether you’re a novice or a seasoned pro.
The big leap into the web
Alex didn’t take the traditional route. In 2011, he left his studies in computer science to embark 100% on the WPMarmite adventure (then called WP Themes Pro), a blog he created with one ambition: to help site creators with the best possible online resources.
Armed with a passion for WordPress and unfailing determination, he trained on the job, juggling freelancing and affiliation to get the project off the ground.
A successful gamble: today, WPMarmite is the number 1 French-language media outlet for WordPress, with international expansion underway since 2020.
At the same time, he co-founded WPChef in 2016 with Maxime Bernard-Jacquet and Nicolas Richer, a French e-learning training organization that has supported over 3,500 learners. Since then, Alex no longer has an operational role in the company, Maxime has sailed off to other adventures and Nicolas continues to make WPChef the key player in WordPress training in France.
Despite this, Alex remains a key player in the WordPress ecosystem. He has founded other projects, such as WPMarmite Start, with the same obsession: making life easier for WordPress users.
Behind the stove
At WPMarmite, Alex is a hands-on chef. He redoubles his ideas and efforts to :
- manage a team of enthusiasts: editors, developers, videographers… he orchestrates everything so that the recipe is perfect
- make sure that everything is well put together: articles, videos, training courses, everything is designed to save you time and skills
- constantly innovate: SEO, AI, support, he explores trends to keep WPMarmite at the cutting edge and refine its strategy.
His mantra? Flood the web with WordPress content, make a positive impact on as many people as possible, and inspire you to take action.
When he’s not tinkering with code or polishing up a LinkedIn publication, Alex likes to eat good food and spend time with his family.
As an entrepreneur at heart, he draws inspiration from these moments of disconnection to come back even more motivated.
Participation in the WordPress community
Alex is a familiar face at WordCamps, the must-attend events for the WordPress community, where he has shared his expertise and infectious energy at a number of technical and business conferences.
If you see him at the next one, don’t hesitate to talk to him! He loves talking about WordPress with other enthusiasts and professionals.
Alex has also contributed to the French translation of some WordPress plugins.
